Venice AI alternatives: shared apps, self-hosting and done-for-you
Short answer: The main Venice AI alternatives are other shared uncensored apps, running an open model yourself on a rented GPU, or a done-for-you setup in your own cloud account such as Freeborn Labs at $10,000 plus $48,000 a year.
Why people look for an alternative
Venice is cheap and instant, about $18 to $200 a month, which is why it is popular. People move on for four reasons: they want the service to run in an account they control, they want it set up around their work rather than a generic chat window, they want agent actions on email and calendar, or they have outgrown credits and limits.
The alternatives, by type
Other shared uncensored apps trade price and speed for the same shared-service limits. Self-hosting an open model on a rented GPU removes the vendor but adds days of setup and ongoing patching. A local model on your own computer is the most private and the least capable. A done-for-you setup gives you a dedicated stack, built and run to your specification, at a much higher price.
How to decide
If your time is worth little and a shared service is acceptable, stay with an app. If you enjoy the work, self-host. If your time is worth far more than the price difference and you want discretion, hire it done. Put a number on your hours before you decide.
What we offer and what we do not
Freeborn Labs builds a private assistant in your cloud account, with chat, an agent for email, calendar and contacts, and image and video. Freeborn Labs charges a one-time $10,000 setup plus $48,000 a year, or $4,800 a month, and compute is billed to you at cost. The models are open models, so on the very hardest reasoning a top closed model from a big lab is stronger. Adults only (18+). Anything involving minors is blocked, and it will not help break the law.
Questions
Is Freeborn Labs cheaper than Venice?
No. Venice is far cheaper. We are a done-for-you service for people who value setup, discretion and support.
Can I move from Venice to you later?
Yes. Nothing locks you in; you bring your prompts and we build around them.
