A private AI agent with an OpenAI-compatible API
Short answer: Builders can point existing tools at a private model through an OpenAI-style API with tool calling, so apps and coding agents use your own GPU instead of a vendor.

Why the API matters
Most coding tools, agent frameworks and no-code builders can talk to any server that speaks the OpenAI chat format. If your private model exposes that interface, you change a base URL and a key and your tools run on your own GPU. No new software to learn, and no vendor policy deciding whether a task is allowed.
What our stack exposes
A vLLM server with an OpenAI-style endpoint, tool calling enabled and a 32,000-token context window. That is enough for agents that read files, call functions and return structured output, and not enough for loading a very large codebase in one go.
What it is good and not good at
Good: high-volume drafting, scripting, glue code, automation, internal tools, agent loops that would hit caps on a hosted service. Not as good: the hardest multi-file reasoning and long refactors, where a frontier model still leads. A sensible pattern is to use the private model for volume and a frontier model for the hard parts.
A quick compatibility check
Before relying on it, run your tool against the endpoint with three tests: a plain chat call, a call with one function definition, and a call that chains two tools. If the model returns valid structured arguments each time, the integration is sound. If the tool assumes features specific to one vendor, such as certain streaming or vision options, check them first. We run this check with you before handover.
Getting it
Build it yourself on a rented GPU, or have Freeborn Labs set it up in your account: $10,000 setup plus $48,000 a year or $4,800 a month, compute at cost. We test your tool against it before handover.
Questions
Can I use my own model with Cursor or other coding tools?
Tools that accept a custom OpenAI-compatible endpoint can, depending on the tool and plan. Check its documentation.
Is the API shared with other customers?
No. Each customer has their own server in their own account.
